There are two airports with direct flights into the region: Queretaro (QRO) and Guanajuato/León (BJX). QRO is the quickest drive to San Miguel. BJX is about twenty minutes farther and follows a smaller mountain route. Both are safe with experienced drivers, which we recommend (see below).
If you’re looking for an easy and reliable way to get to San Miguel, we highly recommend Germán Cardona and his transportation team. They truly make the trip feel seamless. We do not suggest renting a car - the streets in San Miguel are very narrow and hard to navigate.

Comfortable Shoes: San Miguel’s cobblestone streets are beautiful but not the easiest in heels. Bring shoes you can walk in — especially since the ceremony will be outside. We recommend cowboy boots for the welcome party and block heels for the wedding!
Layers: August is warm during the day (upper 70s–low 80s), but once the sun sets it can dip into the low 60s or even high 50s. A light sweater or jacket will definitely be necessary!
Rain: August is part of the rainy season, so expect the occasional afternoon shower. Nothing dramatic — usually quick, but worth having an umbrella or light rain layer.
Passport: Double-check that your passport doesn’t expire within six months of the trip!
Altitude: San Miguel sits at just over 6,200 feet, so remember to stay hydrated.
